Fun and Wholesome Baby Shower Games

How to make your baby shower livelier and more memorable? Include baby shower games in your agenda! Don't rely on boring board games to set the mood - make up some clever games of your own, which all the attendees are sure to enjoy.

In keeping with the spirit of the event, your baby shower games should be wholesome and good for all ages. If there are men in the area, have some fun with non-gender specific games, as well! Here are a few game suggestions:

1. Picture Guessing - There are many kinds of picture guessing games - Pictionary and Play-dough-nary are among them. These are considered another, more modern version of charades. The rules of these games are quite flexible, which makes them fun for any party. The guests are split into teams, then one representative from one of the teams comes up to draw pictures or create items out of modeling clay, for the others to guess. There's only one rule for the person on the spotlight: No talking! The others have to guess the phrase or keyword assigned to this person through visual or non-verbal clues, such as hand gestures.

2. Word Games - One of the simplest and most fun word game usually played in baby showers is called "Don't Say Baby!" In this game, guests are given a necklace of candy pacifiers, lifesavers or any large and colorful beads upon coming to the party. They are then tasked not to say the word "baby" - because if they are, anyone who hears them must take one bead from their necklace, and add it to their own. You can understand how it's not easy to NOT say "baby" at a baby shower!

If you would rather play a more complicated word game, by all means do so. This would be especially effective if the parents and their guests are literary types, fond of reading and words.

3. Action Games - Some games are classified as "action" games, because some active participation is needed from the other guests. One classic action game is picking out small safety pins from a bowl filled with uncooked rice. Activate a timer for say, 30 seconds; the person who picks out the most safety pins at the end of that time wins! And if there's a tie, well - the participants should have another go!

If you've made up your mind to hold baby shower games, don't forget the prizes! Personalized door prizes make for excellent memorabilia. Some baby showers have giveaways for all the guests; to make your games more fun to join, you should make your prizes different from the giveaways.
