Some Simple Directions For Making a Diaper CakeDiaper cakes are excellent baby shower gifts. But these cute things could cost a pretty penny; they could cost anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars. If you don't want to shell out that much, but still want to present a nice baby shower gift, look online for directions for making a diaper cake. Don't be daunted; directions for making a diaper cake need not be complicated. In fact, making a diaper cake is very simple, and it leaves a lot up to the gift-giver's own creativity. You don't even need to have an oven, or know how to cook! The one basic thing you have to remember is that every diaper cake is made of the same foundation: fresh baby diapers. These are usually around 40-50 disposables. But note: not all parents are comfortable with letting their babies use disposables, so it would be good to know something like this at the onset. For safety reasons, you should avoid buying a diaper brand that has a reputation for being uncomfortable and causing rashes! Roll up each diaper so that they make rolls that are similar in circumference. If you want to make a less plain-looking cake, make sure the cute patterns or prints on the diapers are showing on the outside! Next, you will need a large platter on which you can create the cake. A 16" round disposable platter should be large enough. On this platter, you will arrange the diapers in a pleasant-looking display. Bundle the rolled-up diapers until they make a solid base on top of the platter. Tie the diapers together with at least one sturdy colored ribbon. Ribbons of different colors and sizes are always a nice touch. From here, you should be able to figure out what to do even without very explicit directions for making a diaper cake. It's time to decorate! For the "trimmings," you could have baby bottles (filled with candies, for an added touch of cute!), infant accessories like combs and bibs, and crib toys such as stuffed animals, rattles and teething rings. You should make sure that all the items you get are newly-bought and sterile, of course! |
