Some Suggestions for Designs for Baby Shower Cakes

What's a party without a cake? And a baby shower is a party that calls for a very big cake! It's a celebration of new life, truly a joyous occasion! Make sure you order or bake baby shower cakes that everyone will enjoy, and remember as a mark of this blessed event.

Some bakeshops already have ready-made designs for baby shower cakes. But if you wish to have a more personal touch for your baby shower, you should demand a little creative freedom. Think of your own unique ways to decorate your cake, which the new mommy and daddy and their guests are sure to enjoy!

Here are some established decorations for baby shower cakes that you may wish to draw ideas from. Remember: you aren't restricted to these designs at all!

1. A favorite cartoon character as a centerpiece. The mommy or daddy may have a favorite cartoon character; make sure to include it on the cake design! It could be a centerpiece, or a figurine - or even an action figure, which the mom or dad can bring home with them. If the mommy or daddy can't suggest a cartoon character, you can choose a popular favorite; Sesame Street characters like the Cookie Monster and Big Bird are choice picks. Disney characters are also famous as cake decorations.

2. A cute animal as a centerpiece, such as a kitten, a puppy or a baby giraffe. These could be icing decorations on the top of the cake.

3. Tiny figurines of baby things like pacifiers and baby bottles as "frills." You may not even stop at these things! Baby carriages, baby booties and bibs are also common add-ons. But not the life-size versions, of course! Small figurines or icing sculptures would be nice touches.

4. If the infant has already been born when the baby shower is held, you could include a photo of the baby, or the mommy holding the baby, printed on edible ink on top of the cake.

5. You could have a loving or inspirational message inscribed in icing on top of the cake, as in the case of a "welcoming shower" for a baby. Something as simple as "Welcome, Baby James!" would work magic compared to the all-too-common "Congratulations!"

In a baby shower, even children may be present; they would certainly love it if traditional party food - such as cakes and ice cream - were present. If you want something to top off the happy occasion, shop around for baby shower cakes.
